Negative criticism is an unavoidable part of being a performer. As much as we could hope to prevent it, criticism comes with the territory and so learning how to receive it or “handle” it is an important part of being able to succeed in music.

During this episode of our Teen Jazz Radio podcast, we discuss the difference between negative criticism and trolling and how to deal with it when it happens. If you’d like to read a transcription of this podcast, visit this page. The music of Yvonnick Prene (read his interview on Teen Jazz here), Adam Larson (read his interview here), and saxophonist Curtis Brooks (his interview) is featured.
