Last night, we returned from the third annual 2014 World Youth Jazz Festival held in Putrajaya, Malaysia and we can’t tell you how amazed we were at all of the young, talented artists we saw perform as part of the event.
The 2014 World Youth Jazz Fest (WYJF) was hosted at the Putrajaya International Convention Center from May 2nd to 4th, 2014. With more than 20 bands performing over the three days, the festival showcased an impressive selection of artist from all over the world (Malaysia, Indonesia, Mexico, USA, Thailand, Germany, Philippines, Switzerland, Japan, and more).
The event was created to bring young artists together to “not only be able to showcase their jazz talents but to also integrate, collaborate, interact and network between themselves” and this year’s show certainly succeeded in doing just that.
A few of the groups we highly recommend checking out are Mazlina & The Red Velvet, Bavarian Youth Jazz Orchestra, Yukiko Onishi, Fusion Stuff, Get Goin’ with Imran Aiman and Amelia Ong.
We performed on Sunday night and enjoyed participating in the closing jam session with the Bavarian Youth Jazz Orchestra. It was an absolute blast and are so honored and grateful to have had the opportunity and experience and to get to meet so many great young artists.
